For our Domestika course project, we created brand strategy and brand identity for the International Space Station (ISS). Relying on public information and research, we defined their core values, tone of voice, and purpose “to prepare humankind to travel beyond Earth and discover the unknown.” Based on the strategy, we crafted a modular visual world, where the ever changing yet always circular orbit path becomes the key visual element. A layout system based on simple grid and technical typography gives space for the breathtaking pictures of ISS and space travel. Appealing to the little astronauts of the future, we brought playfulness to the otherwise serious and scientific brand. For this we incorporated colourful illustrations based on space mission uniform patches and badges.
